Vitamin and Trace Mineral Nutrition

Fido-Vite contains all the essential vitamins and minerals required by dogs according to AAFCO. The AAFCO guidelines are for growing and mature canines. However, these guidelines were not established to insure optimal animal performance in the presence of stressful environments, like showing, competition, hunting, working in sport, breeding and health challenges. Fido-Vite adds extra vitamin and trace mineral nutrition to your regular dog food to reach those optimal levels. You would have to feed approximately 6 times what the dog needs in energy to get AAFCO all stages nutrient standards to meet all National Research Council (NRC) optimum requirements for trace minerals and vitamins. No doubt every dog would be obese at these levels. Fido-Vite also contains vitamin C which is not required by AAFCO because it is made in the dogs liver, but if the health of the dog is compromised, liver function may be compromised as well. Vitamin C supplementation has been used as a preventative in puppies to hip dysplasia.
